In our opinion it has several problems, so in 2 hours we, together with some friends, created a brief concept for it. With our concept we started a dialogue about this topic, managed to reach thousands of readers, and most important - our customers. This dialogue could be a gateway for making better solutions in the future.
Next is an existing eesti.ee solution, launched in the end of 2018. But it doesn’t seem to be created in 2018, not mentioning 2019. It is chaotic, aesthetically obsolete, not something we would proudly present to our world-wide friends with a feeling “Wow, that's our famous e-country!”.
We are a world famous e-state. Eesti.ee is our e-gate, something we need, use every day and would like to be proud of in the world. In our opinion, today's Estonian.ee is not up-to-date, is lacking modern aesthetics, user convenience and not reflecting the image of e-Estonia. This could be changed if world-class designers whom we are lucky to have here locally were involved in such kind of important projects.
Our concept considers just visual side and is born in just a couple of hours. This time is certainly not enough to go deeper, to do analysis, to change the substantive side, and that was not our goal. We wanted to show that we can create contemporary aesthetics and that design can be used as information breaker and setting priorities to achieve better usability.
Our concept got attention in the community and we can continue the dialogue to understand why the situation is like this. Probably it is all about compromises, good will and understanding the problem. Let's see how far we manage to go.
